un-asleep

12 10 2007

gooooood morning world!

well actually i wouldnt sound as chirpy if you’r reading it that way. i am seriously seriously fatally tired. i have been up since i cant remember when, sitting down for hours and hours with a computer smacked right in front of my face and no amount of stretching will help. my knuckles are giving up and i seriously dont blame them.

better yet, i brought work home -_-

WHYY hudha WHYYYYYY.

it was sort of to make me feel better bout leaving a pile of work behind and have 3 days off from work and go jalan jalan which, i doubt i’d be doing. so you can say i’ll probably end up working in front of my lappie the very next day.

somebody remind me how wonderful it is to be an educator.

3 days to go

10 10 2007

the family’s going to geylang today. making reservations to break fast near my workplace and a short walk down after that would be the bazaar.

the bazaar used to be my sworn enemy since i can remember. every year i’d dread going all the way to the east to get myself and the rest of my siblings clothes. most of the time, mama will hav to nag before we’d finally agree to go and that is on condition that it’d be after we break our fast.

sometimes i wonder what is it really, that i hate bout that place.

the terrible terrible traffic. you’d be lucky if you cuold whizz through the strectch of road in 15mins. well it could be the crowd (99.99% malays from all over spore) squeezing and grinding against your ass, your boobs, your arms. then there’s people accidentally stepping on your foot which during one occasion, i got stepped on 4 times. accidental indeed.

man, woman, makcik, pakcik, minah and mat stall owners screaming and shouting at the top of their lungs ‘marketing’ their products/items/food:

“ahhh kak! mari beli dengdeng kak! dengdeng panas kak dengdeng panas!”

“beli beli beli beli beli! 3 sepuloh 3 sepuloh 3 sepuloh. murah kak murah murah murah!”

dont you think it’s like having a recorder stuck in their heads? they repeat the same words over and over again. and trust me, they will really scream in your ears and face.

this very day, i’m a bus stop away from geylang bazaar. i’ve been here for almost half a year now and i’ve been to and fro the bazaar uncountable times. indeed, nothing has changed.

and i’m beginning to think it should never change cos that’s the only time of the year, the only place in singapore you can get so much food, so many colours and truly feel the warmth of hari raya.

well of course, with so many malays.

insecurity lingers.

farewell~ goodbye~ till we meet again~~

6 10 2007

last saturday was tina’s farewell celebration or, just a farewell. i dont know if i should include a ‘celebration’ cos my collegues conveyed the msg to me and reminded me this particular gathering as a farewell celebration. so, we’re celebrating cos she’s leaving, are we? or even like a farewell party. like we’re only too happy cos you’re leaving, and that’s why we’re having a party. erg.

anyways there’s pictures to supplement you with what we had that particular night. as usual, with alot and alot of people getting together, there’s bound to be disagreements, where to sit, where to meet, what to eat and most importantly, who’s paying dude?

of course, what was thought to be a farewell ‘celebration’ and supposedly a treat from the lady who’s leaving all of us ended up with everyone going dutch.

food was relatively just okay for me, considering the wow reviews i had from my collegues and how well known that place was when i mentioned to other friends about mak’s place.

we had tom yam soup, baby squid, fried vege, lemon chicken and one of the most anticipated dish – butter squid. in short, it was all good except the butter squid, which azar put it as not shaven. well yea, he tagged along and finally met my collegues who used to be his figment of imagination whenever i talked to him about them.

after mak’s place was amirah’s grill whose owner is one of our student’s parents! and amirah is apparently the name  of the little girl. how sweet. we had the sofa room and watched an indonesian horror/suspense simply titled mirror. i dont even wanna go into detail what the story went like cos we were laughing our way out of the restaurant when it was over (ok me and azar had a few scares in the beginning but so what?)

on another note, everyone got a little something from the company for Hari Raya. and the manager actually sent it to his staff personally. shooo shweet. i love it!

pictures are up for viewing. pardon the low resolution and bad photo resizing skills.
